Clogged Intake System: A Major Efficiency Killer
When the air filter element of an air compressor is not cleaned or replaced for an extended period, dust accumulation can severely reduce air intake, leading to a sharp decline in exhaust efficiency. More critically, increased negative pressure may puncture the filter element, allowing contaminants to enter unimpeded—damaging the oil filter and oil separator element in succession, ultimately causing main unit wear and lubricant deterioration.
If the oil filter is used beyond its service life, increased pressure differentials will reduce lubricant flow, resulting in high-temperature shutdowns of the main unit. Should the filter be compromised, metal debris will directly enter the main unit's bearing area, causing irreversible damage.
Collapse of the Lubrication System Triggers Chain Reactions
Carbon Buildup Seizure: Extended use or mixing of non-genuine oils (especially synthetic oils) can cause oil oxidation, forming gummy carbon deposits. In one factory, lubricant overuse by 2,000 hours led to rotors coated with light-colored gummy substances and bearing raceways grooved, ultimately seizing the main unit.
Oil Separator Failure: A clogged separator element can cause a sudden spike in pressure differentials, potentially puncturing the filter material. Lubricant may then spray into the pipelines with compressed air, causing the main unit to shut down due to oil starvation and overheating within 10 minutes.
Accelerated Wear of Mechanical Components
Lack of lubricant maintenance for the main motor bearings can progress from minor wear to motor burnout. Failure to regularly adjust transmission components such as couplings and belts may increase energy consumption or even cause mechanical fractures. Statistics show that 60% of major main unit repairs stem from long-term neglect of basic maintenance.
