How to Accurately Match the Selection of Screw Air Compressors
Calculation Parameters
1. Determine Working Pressure: Allowance Design is Key
- Formula: Rated pressure of the air compressor = Highest pressure at the gas consumption end + 1–2 bar allowance (to offset pipeline pressure loss).
- Pipeline optimization: If the distance to the gas consumption point exceeds 50 meters, increase the main pipeline diameter or install the air compressor nearby, and reduce bends to minimize pressure loss.
- Industry reference: General machinery manufacturing typically uses a pressure of 0.7–0.8 MPa, while precision spraying processes require 0.8–1.0 MPa.
2. Calculate Volumetric Flow Rate
- Calculation rule: Total flow rate = Sum of flow rates of all gas-consuming equipment × 1.2 (20% allowance).
- Scenario adaptation: New projects can refer to design institute data, while retrofit projects must consider historical gas consumption fluctuations (e.g., peak/valley usage).
3. Avoid Pitfalls
- Insufficient flow rate will cause a sudden pressure drop, preventing equipment from starting. Over-sizing will lead to a surge in motor power consumption and a significant increase in electricity costs.
4. Match Power Supply Capacity: Power ≠ Displacement
- Dynamic relationship: Under the same power, a reduction in speed will result in decreased displacement (e.g., a 22 kW machine delivers 3.7 m³/min at 7 bar but drops to 3.5 m³/min at 8 bar).
- Selection principle: The power supply capacity must meet the driving motor power while ensuring voltage stability (e.g., 380V/3ph).
