Three Core Elements of Screw Air Compressor Installation
CHANUN Air Compressor
Environment and Foundation
Location determines equipment lifespan. The compressor room must meet three core conditions: dry, well-ventilated, and dust-free.
Space Layout:
- Distance between equipment and walls ≥ 1.5 meters.
- Spacing between multiple units in parallel ≥ 2 meters.
- Clearance above the equipment ≥ 4 meters to ensure unobstructed airflow for heat dissipation.
- If ambient temperature exceeds 40°C, industrial exhaust fans or air conditioning must be installed.
- For temperatures below 0°C, electric trace heating is required for pipelines to prevent freezing.
Pollution Protection:
- Keep away from dusty workshops and acid-washing sections.
- The air intake should be at least 2 meters above the roof and equipped with a three-stage pre-filter (coarse filtration accuracy ≤ 50μm).
- In chemical zones, stainless steel pipelines must be used for corrosion resistance.
Ground Foundation:
- The concrete foundation's load-bearing capacity must be ≥ 2 times the equipment's full-load weight.
- Levelness error ≤ 2mm/m.
- Use anti-vibration rubber pads (thickness ≥ 10mm) for screw compressors and spring dampers for piston compressors. Secure with anchor bolts (e.g., M16 bolt torque 80-100N・m).
Vibration control is critical. After installation, use a leveling instrument with an accuracy of 0.02mm/m to check. Longitudinal and lateral deviations must be ≤ 0.5mm/m, and the elevation error for multiple units must be within ±3mm to avoid pipeline stress concentration.
Pipelines and System
The scientific layout of pipelines directly affects air pressure stability and energy consumption.
- Inlet Pipeline:
- Short, straight, and smooth.
- Pipe diameter should be larger than the equipment interface (e.g., if the interface is DN50, use DN65 pipes).
- Minimize bends (prefer 45° elbows).
- Pressure drop ≤ 0.01MPa.
- Exhaust Pipeline:
- Slope toward the air storage tank (gradient 1:100) to prevent condensate backflow.
- Use high-pressure rubber asbestos gaskets (≥ 1.6MPa) for flange connections.
- For threaded connections, wrap with PTFE tape clockwise 3-5 times.
The sequence of post-processing equipment must not be incorrect. The standard process should be:
Air Compressor → Aftercooler → Moisture Separator → Air Storage Tank → Dryer → Precision Filter.
- Spacing between equipment ≥ 1.2 meters.
- The dryer must be installed horizontally.
- Precision filters must be installed vertically with the arrow aligned with the airflow direction.
- The drain outlet should be higher than the downstream pipeline.
Electrical safety is a baseline requirement:
- Power voltage fluctuation ≤ ±10%.
- Cables should be sized at 1.5 times the rated current (e.g., 35mm² copper cable for a 75kW motor).
- Use a TN-S grounding system with grounding resistance ≤ 4Ω. Do not share with lightning protection grounding.
- Control wires must be shielded and installed separately from power cables (spacing ≥ 300mm).
- Keep sensors away from vibration sources (e.g., install pressure sensors on stable pipeline sections at least 10 meters away).
Commissioning and Protection
Five mandatory checks before startup:
1. Lubricant level between 1/2 and 2/3 of the sight glass; belt sag 10-15mm.
2. Remove all pipeline blind plates, plugs, and desiccant bags.
3. Verify correct opening/closing of cooling water valves (for water-cooled models).
4. Check if high-temperature components (>80°C) are equipped with protective covers.
5. Install a safety valve (set pressure at 1.1 times working pressure) and a 1.6-grade pressure gauge on the air storage tank.
Key parameters during trial operation:
- Verify motor rotation direction during no-load startup.
- Run for 30 minutes and measure vibration values (≤ 6.3mm/s for screw compressors, ≤ 11.2mm/s for piston compressors).
- After loading, check:
- Exhaust temperature (≤ 100°C for oil-injected screw compressors).
- Pressure fluctuation (≤ ±0.02MPa).
- Use soapy water to check for leaks at pipeline connections.
Mandatory safety requirements:
- Install protective railings ≥ 1.2 meters around the equipment.
- Equip rotating parts with protective covers (mesh size ≤ 50mm × 50mm).
- Emergency stop buttons must be red mushroom-head type, installed at a height of 1.5-1.8 meters, and connected to an independent hard-wired circuit.
